I lost a dear cousin last month, and I wanted to make something for her... As a japanese tradition, when someone passes away, relatives and friends give money to help to pay the expenses of the funeral (kouden). In return the family gives a gift (okaeshi) usually given on the 49 th day memorial cerimony.
And this will be one of the gifts...
I choose the chinese knot that means good luck, the green color of the beads meaning healthy, the white color meaning peace and the origami crane meaning long life and happiness...
It wasnt so hard to make those, the problem was that I had to go shopping 3 times for the stuff... I wish I was smart and buy everything only in one trip!!!
for now I have one hundred ... 200 to go!!!
final work... Im sure that if my cousin was here she would like it!!!

maternity
My cousin Priscila had a baby boy on 10/08/2010 and I had made for her a board so she could put in the maternity door... when I made it, she didnt have a name yet, so I left a space so she could insert his name later...
On the day she had the baby, my other cousin Malu, bought the letters and put on the board, and it went perfect well with everything else.
The bodysuit, shoes and the star are origami, the others are scrapbooking sticks, and the letters are made of clay.
I also made a family tree for her, but dont remember if i have photos of it, anyways, i will ask her to take some, and later i ll post in here.

recycling
My cousin other day sent me a link , and she asked me if i could do one for her...
Who doesnt have at home one phone list that was never opened? I did have a few, and I chose the one that wasn't too thick.
The only thing that I didnt like about it was too cut the pages... gosh it took me forever to cut it perfectly...
this one was given to my cousin
and with the other half I made one for me!!!

origami mobile tsuru...
My cousin had asked me to make her a mobile for her new home.
As usual I "google" to find ideas (I m really good at copying but not creating!!!) and I found this one, I decided to give it a try as I had all the things I thought it was needed at home... what I used was origami paper, nylon thread (to hook the cranes), silk thread (the orange one), beads ( i used 3 different types - 2 orange and 1 silver), hashi (chopstick) and glue. I really had all things at home! :) I was going to use more cranes, but I was out of orange beads :(

my niece 1 st bday
My niece is one now... we had a huge party for her (you can check in my other blog - http://minhasobrinhamel.blogspot.com - though it is written in portuguese), I made a gift for the guests.
I made tulip fabric flowers, I found tutorial on the net... I know the leaf is not tulip leaf, but it was the one that would look better, I could write her name and date, and decided to use a pencil as a steam to make the gift more "useful".
